Why Reishi Has Been Revered for 2,000 Years
Beta-Glucans & Polysaccharides
Reishi contains some of the highest concentrations of beta-glucans and polysaccharides of any known mushroom. That is part of why the whole fruiting body matters — mycelium grown on grain is often mostly starch from the grain substrate.
A Daily Ritual
Reishi is a mushroom made for ritual. Whether it is a morning dark roast, an evening oat milk latte with cacao, or a simple tea brewed with garden herbs the way Sandra first made it, Reishi fits easily into your day.
Triterpenes & Bold Flavor
Reishi contains unique triterpenes and ganoderic acids that give it a bold, earthy, slightly bitter flavor. Traditionally enjoyed in the evening, Reishi pairs beautifully with rich, warming flavors like cacao, oat milk, chamomile, and peppermint.
Hongo's Most-Used Mushroom
Reishi is a key ingredient in our Joint & Flex blend, Pure Immunity Tea, Perfect 10, and Power Brew — it appears in more Hongo products than any other single mushroom. Fitting for the mushroom that started it all.
The Hongo Difference
Not All Reishi Is the Same
Whole Fruiting Body Only — the actual mushroom cap and stem, never mycelium grown on grain. Most Reishi powders on the market use mycelium-on-grain which can contain up to 60% starch filler with a fraction of the actual mushroom.
Ganoderma lucidum Species — we use the red Reishi species (Ganoderma lucidum) — the most studied and traditionally revered variety, not cheaper alternative species sometimes substituted in lower-quality products.
Clean Growing Practices — grown without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. Non-certified but fully committed to clean growing standards.
Ultra-Fine Ground — finely milled for a smooth, silky texture. Dissolves easily into any liquid without clumping.
Founders Use This Daily — Tim and Sandra Watts have been taking Reishi every single day since 2020. This is the mushroom that started everything for them and it remains the cornerstone of their daily routine.
