What Makes Agarikon Special
An Ancient Mushroom
Agarikon grows for decades on old-growth larch, fir and Douglas fir, forming a long, chalky, beehive-shaped column. Some specimens are thought to be more than 50 years old.
Distinctly Bitter
Agarikon is famously bitter, which earned it the nickname Quinine Conk. That intensity comes from its naturally occurring triterpenes and agaric acid compounds.
Rare in the Wild
Wild Agarikon has become rare as old-growth forests have disappeared. Ours is cultivated, so you can enjoy it without taking it from ancient trees.
Featured in Joint & Flex
Agarikon is one of the four rare mushrooms in our Joint & Flex blend, alongside Reishi, Royal Sun Blazei and Mesima.
History & Tradition
Ancient Greece
The Greek physician Dioscorides described Agarikon in De Materia Medica around 65 AD, and it remained one of the most famous mushrooms in European tradition for centuries.
Pacific Northwest
Indigenous peoples of the Pacific Northwest also valued Agarikon, which grows on the tall conifers of the region's old-growth forests.
How to Use
Because it is bitter, Agarikon works best in small amounts blended into strong coffee, cacao, chai or a smoothie with fruit.
Serving size: 1 scoop (1 g). Mix about 2 grams into your favorite hot beverage and enjoy daily. 60 servings per 2.1 oz pouch, 226 servings per 8 oz jar.
