We are Tim and Sandra Watts, a couple in our mid-50s with a passion for health, wellness, and vitality. Like many people, the pandemic was a wake-up call for us. It was a time to reflect, prioritize our health, and explore natural ways to strengthen our immune systems. This journey led us down a path of discovery that completely transformed our lives.
It all began in our backyard garden, where we started growing herbs and vegetables known for their medicinal and nutritional benefits. That’s when we stumbled upon the remarkable power of plants like Holy Basil, Lemon Balm, and various mints. But everything changed when we were introduced to Reishi mushrooms.
Curious and inspired, we dove deep into the world of functional mushrooms. The more we learned, the more amazed we became by their ability to support overall health. From energy and stamina to immunity and cognitive function, mushrooms offered solutions that felt almost magical. We began incorporating powerful varieties like Lion’s Mane, Cordyceps, Turkey Tail, and Chaga into our daily routine. The results were life-changing.
Our energy soared. We began thriving in our CrossFit-style workouts at Hard Exercise Works in Wellington, FL. Recovery times shortened, joint pain faded, and we achieved a sense of well-being we hadn’t felt in years. We lost weight, regained focus, and felt empowered to live life to the fullest.
It became clear: we couldn’t keep this discovery to ourselves. That’s when Hongo Tea Co. was born.
“Hongo” is Spanish for “mushroom,” a nod to both the roots of our wellness journey and the global reach of these superfoods. We’re on a mission to share the incredible benefits of functional mushrooms with the world, making them accessible, delicious, and effortless to enjoy.
